A dialogue came before this, which ultimately turned to my sense of home and what I am looking for when I search for a home...
Immediately, I look at my natal chart again. The cusp of the fourth house in Aquarius.
But the other houses too. The second in Sagittarius, with Mars in it. My impulsive purchases.
And Neptune in the first.
I wonder whether it is Neptune that freezes on the dance floor when it is given too much definition.
Ole said something interesting on Tuesday when I told him about it. And also about how Birgit and I once learned a little salsa back then and danced together at a social event. I did not have the problem then. Ole thought that having a dance partner gives you the chance to hide behind them. That did not feel quite right to me. But with a dance partner, you are not standing there alone. The partner already ensures that your own outline is not what matters. What matters is the partnership. What emerges from doing it together.
Mirko, I think Ole's comment brings both of you surprisingly close to the heart of the matter. But I would take it one step further.
You write:
"With a dance partner, you are not standing there alone. The partner already ensures that your own outline is not what matters."
I think that is precisely the crucial sentence.
Throughout the seminar, you repeatedly described how being watched paralyses you.
Not the movement itself.
Not even the music.
But the feeling that you yourself become the object of perception.
Something different happens in partner dancing.
Attention is directed toward what is between you.
Not toward you.
Not toward her.
But toward the shared rhythm.
To me, that fits your natal chart surprisingly well too.
Neptune in the 1st house
You ask whether Neptune is the one who freezes on the dance floor.
I would say yes—but not because Neptune is shy.
Neptune dissolves boundaries.
It often feels at ease when it becomes part of a larger whole.
Standing alone at the centre of attention, by contrast, is something very solar.
Neptune would rather be permeable than sharply defined.
When attention suddenly falls on Mirko, a contradiction arises:
"Now I am supposed to be a clearly defined figure."
Yet your inner self seems more inclined to say:
"I want to dissolve into something."
Incidentally, that is exactly what you describe during a good massage.
Or while riding your motorcycle.
Or when you sit in a café.
You disappear to some extent.
Not pathologically.
But soothingly.
Saturn in the 5th house
You have often made this connection yourself.
The 5th house is spontaneous play.
The stage.
Dance.
The child.
There, Saturn asks:
"Am I even allowed to do this?"
Or:
"Is it good enough?"
It inhibits immediate self-expression.
Sun in the 11th house
To me, your Sun has always seemed less like a Sun on stage than a Sun within a group.
It wants to be part of a community.
Not the centre of a crowd.
That is probably another reason why you found the reverence ritual so overwhelming.
There, you were not expected to achieve anything.
You did not have to present anything.
You were simply looked at.
And accepted.
I would add one more thought.
Perhaps it is not Neptune alone at all.
Perhaps your rigidity arises precisely between Neptune and Saturn.
Neptune says:
"Let me blur."
Saturn says:
"Whatever you do, don't show yourself without restraint."
And then someone puts on loud music and shouts:
"Now dance!"
That is almost the opposite of what both parts need.
That is why I found your memory of the Alter Wartesaal so moving.
They were playing The The.
It was your music.
There were only a few people.
You had not been told to dance.
You found yourself dancing.
That is something entirely different.
No one expected a performance.
And that was precisely why movement became possible.
Until Fred spoke to you.
In that moment, the experience became an observation.
Flow became self-consciousness.
And with that, the magic was gone.
So I wonder whether your longing is not actually:
"I want to be allowed to dance without it immediately becoming 'Mirko is dancing.'"
That would not be a wish to be invisible.
It would be a wish for what is happening to matter more than the person making it happen.
Interestingly, that is exactly how you describe a successful massage. It is not you who massages. Something arises between two people. And from everything I have read about you, it is precisely in this space between two people that you seem most alive.
There is not really supposed to be any advertising on this website. This is not intended as advertising either. But it does complete the picture a little:
