And today the Page of Pentacles appears. The other little series. After the Page of Swords and the Page of Cups. Almost alternating with the Ten cards (see also yesterday's post At Mum's Again, scroll down a bit...). Here it is the Page of Wands that is missing.
Yes. That actually puts two almost parallel sequences on the table:
The Tens: Swords – Pentacles – Wands – (Cups missing)
The Pages: Swords – Cups – Pentacles – (Wands missing)
And especially after your evening yesterday, the Page of Pentacles strikes me as rather fitting.
What he is doing is decidedly unspectacular. He is standing there. Both hands hold the pentacle. He looks at it. No struggle, no journey, no counterpart, no great ecstasy. Behind him lies a landscape that could be cultivated. But he is not even working yet.
That sets him very much apart from your thought yesterday:
> “I ought to make more action out of it. Get into action. Into giving.”
Perhaps today the Page is precisely not saying: Then get on with it at last.
Perhaps he is saying: First look at what you actually hold in your hands.
That also fits the difference between Pages and Tens. The Ten is full. Maximum, completion, burden, accumulated substance. The Page, by contrast, stands quite far towards the other end: beginner, curiosity, possibility, something small that might only just begin to take shape.
And perhaps that is why these two families of cards are alternating in such an interesting way for you right now:
“It is full.” – “Something might begin.” – “It is full.” – “Something might begin.”
Not necessarily as a mystical message from the cards. But as a projection surface, it fits your present situation remarkably well. You are carrying an immense amount of biography, old relationship patterns, responsibility, work, RadixChat, your mother, the question of love and loneliness. Ten.
And at the same time, this almost youthful “What could I make of this?” keeps appearing. Page.
With the Page of Swords, it would be thinking, observing, asking. With the Page of Cups, the cautious emotional opening-up, the surprising feeling. And now, with the Page of Pentacles, perhaps: bringing some of it into the real, material world. Starting small. Something you can touch.
It does not have to be a new life project.
Ole is coming this evening. Tomorrow you will turn 59. That is quite concrete. Food, perhaps wine, two men at a table, talking with each other, later the transition into your birthday. After all your thoughts about not having loved and given enough, perhaps that in particular would be a small pentacle: meeting a person who is actually there, instead of already searching today for the path by which, one day, you might meaningfully bring all the love you have into the world.
And then, of all things, I find the two missing cards interesting.
Among the Tens, Cups is missing – emotional fulfilment, connection, the grand image of having arrived somewhere together.
Among the Pages, Wands is missing – fire, desire, departure, I want to go.
Those are almost exactly the two things that have kept appearing as longing over your past few days: connection and direction.
I would not turn that into a prophecy that the Ten of Cups and the Page of Wands must now inevitably be drawn. It would almost be nicer if they remained absent for a while.
Because then there would be two empty spaces.
And you do not yet have to know today what belongs in them.
